One last thing
I think it is really cool they way one can upload several pictures/graphics to the blog page. Blogger resized all as needed and here they all are. A testimony to the many things I learned in this class!
Final Thoughts
It has been quite an experience working with many of these tools, and around them sometimes. I am glad I persevered with Mixcraft and managed to create a podcast with added background music. Also, to have persevered to include the posdcast on this blog. Instructions were not very clear, but eventually, I was able to understand better how to use Gcast. I created a Podcast channel, and added my podcast to it. Then I embeded code into the blog to be able to play the podcast sitting on Gcast from this blog. Fun!
Last Day of Class
I just tried to finish all of my assignments for today. I am particularly excited to have explored Mixcraft as a replacement for Garageband for those who are not equipped with an Apple computer. It was fairly easy to create a short podcast and to add sound to it. I uploaded it to Gcast and I am now trying to see if I could have access to it from this blog.

Del.icio.us
Today we had a workshop on Del.icio.us - thanks Bonnie - a very useful tool. I like the idea of being able to reach my bookmarks from anywhere, and I like the idea to share them with others. It was impressive to see how quick it was to add people to the network and to see their bookmarks. One can also suscribe to recieve bookmarks on a specific topic - that is also convenient - and I like the idea of pulling together resources and efforts. I am not yet clear on some of the functions - but I will explore and learn to use that tool.
ITunes, IPods & GCast
I just lost the post I just wrote.. .on this.. so I am trying again.
Thanks to our presenter Roger, we got tons of useful information on these three tools. I must confess I used to be a touch bias towards the Itune and Ipod because I did not like the very proprietory approach from Apple. However, I must say I was impressed with ITunes University and I will go back to visit and will recommand to ESL teachers I know who would really use some of the content.
I also loved touching and playing with the IPods - Thanks for bringing them to class. It was interesting to hear that with organization, these tools can be used in the classroom without too many problems- the logistic being an important consideration - this was really comforting.
As for GCast - thanks for pointing this resource out - I was particularly impressed by the ability to call from a phone and drop a podcast message off - Fantastic. I can see tons of use for all of these tools and I am looking forward to having a little more available time to learn more and start using these.

Podcasting
I really enjoyed the workshop on podcasting and I am eager to find a tool similar to GarageBand to be able to create posdcast with a layer of music. I did a search a found a very similar tool called MixedCraft which I intend to test today to create my podcast for EDT620.
Leigh did a super and thorough job - with her handouts, we have everything we need to research more on the use of posdcast within education, and on creating them with Audacity. Leigh, thanks for all the great resources. I can see tons of applications within the classroom for podcast, especially if teaching languages. But also, the technology in support of education aspect is very interesting and appealling to me - providing ways for students and teachers to create, to share, to provide remote materials to listen to on the go or at home from a PC- fantastic!

Catching up - at least trying to
I am falling totally behind with my blog entries (I am currently taking 3 graduate classes, and teaching one undergraduate class). I have to post weekly blog entries for 3 blogs, one for each graduate class, and read my students' blogs (which, by the way, I enjoy tremendously). So... it is not for lack of things to say about all the neat technology tools I am learning in all of these classes - I have plenty to say - but somehow - just getting each assignment completed for all rarely allows me the luxury to come and post on my blogs.
Somehow, I am still hopefull that I will be able to post on most of the required items before the end of the semester - I just won't have the neat chronological order that would come with regular timely posts.

More Photoshop
Today, more tools in Photoshop - big struggle with the magnetic lasso - but this tool is fantastic once one can maneuver it. It allows to select very specific areas quite neatly. The fun part was to learn how to paste patterns within shapes. Photoshop is trying - one needs lots of patience to learn, but I am always amazed at the quality of creations we can make with it. Looking forward to learn more. I am not sure how feasible it would be for teachers to use - most people would probably find it to difficult and time consuming - but I think a few fun things can be done for the classroom.

Photoshop
Today we worked with Photoshop and the exercises were very good in showing the power of this application. I tried to teach myself Photoshop some time ago, and was able to do a few things with it - then lacked time to learn more, and felt a bit overwhelmed - but I have some good books and, using again today, I feel like trying again. This application is amazing and you can have a lot of fun once you master some of its features. It allow to make professional looking images.

If you are new to Movable Type and/or weblogs you may have encountered the term Permalink and wondered (as I did when I first read the term), what the heck is that?
A permalink is the permanent identifier to a specific weblog post or article. On Movable Type, a Permalink is usually a link to an entry's unique web page.
Clicking on the Permalink link will take the viewer to the page devoted to that entry, often with a place to leave comments.

Problems resolved
We actually learned a tric to circumvent the Google sign-up loop and everybody was able to create a blog today. Once in, the blog tool is very easy to use. Learning how to customize it might be more difficult. However, one can publish directly to the web using the default templates that are provided. Looking forward to learning more and hope to have the time to customize a little bit.
Creating a blog for EDT620
Today's experience in class was interesting. We had several students who were not able to create a blog account. A good example of how technology can be frustrating and especially difficult for the instructor. Luckily, everyone was understanding.
